Connexions provides impartial information, advice, guidance (IAG) and support to young people as they move through their teenage years into adulthood and working life.
Our key purpose is to help young people aged 13-19, and up to 25 for those who have learning difficulties or disabilities, to engage in education, employment and training (EET), so that they become successful adults.
Working in partnership with others, we aim to:
Provide all young people with the help and support they need to make a successful transition to further stages in EET and into adulthood
Offer young people impartial information, advice and guidance on learning and career options, as well as broader personal issues
Raise young peoples’ aspirations and motivate them to achieve their full potential
Help young people overcome barriers to their progression in learning and work, including issues such as:
Housing
Relationships
Bullying
Health matters (including sexual health)
Substance misuse
Finance
Offending behaviour
Help parents, carers and families motivate and support young people in accessing learning, employment and personal development opportunities and make successful transitions from one stage to the next
Maintain up to date records on young peoples’ progress so that they can be properly supported by effectively targeted resources
Our service is open to all young people in the age range, but priority is given to those who need enhanced support to overcome specific barriers to progression and success.
